Women’s services include gynecological care, labor and delivery by traditional or birthing room methods, cosmetic surgery, breast lactation instruction and prenatal classes. Class One
The Fear Tension, and Pain Cycle/Female Anatomy During Pregnancy
The Labor and Delivery Process
Analgesia and Anesthesia in Labor and Delivery
The Labor and Delivery Unit
Class One Overview-Saturday, 8:30 a.m.—Noon
The “fear, tension, and pain cycle” during the labor process will be discussed followed by comfort measures and relaxation/breathing skills as they relate to the “fear, tension, and pain cycle.”
The Labor and Delivery Process
This section of the class will discuss the phases and stages of the labor and delivery process. Other topics include: maternal response to labor and delivery, the role of the labor coach and signs of labor.
- Relaxation skills, breathing skills, and physical conditioning exercises will also be discussed.
Analgesia and Anesthesia in Labor and Delivery
This section of the class will address the use of analgesia and anesthesia during the labor and delivery process. Post-operative management will also be discussed. All breathing patterns, relaxation skills, and physical conditioning exercises will be discussed.
Class Two Overview-Tuesday, 7-9 p.m.
Newborn Care & Safety/Child Safety
This class is designed to provide parents with information on safe and secure care for their newborn. Discussion in each class will be the general appearance of the newborn, jaundice, bathing, care of the cord and circumcision, temperature setting for the newborn, feeding the newborn, car seats and home safety. Class Three Overview-Thursday, 7-9 p.m.
Breast Feeding
Breast Feeding class is designed for the parents who wish to offer the most natural form of nutrition. Discussed in the class will be the myths, truths and benefits of lactation, normal and abnormal development of lactation and problems/preparation for lactation. Our goal is for the patient to obtain the skills, confidence and comfort to aid them in an optimal nursing experience. Please call 531-4729 for information and to schedule a class.
