August 20, 2012Dr. Wayne Johnson leaned back in his leather office chair, picked up his iPhone and talked out a text. That’s right — he talked, not typed. Using a voice command software, Johnson pressed one button then spoke to his phone like he was talking to a friend. His message was dictated perfectly, sent instantly and it all took half the time as punching it out letterby-letter. But Johnson knows even Siri can’t replace the convenience of texting the old-fashioned way. “If you’re in class you can text. You can’t talk on the phone,” said Johnson, an orthopaedic surgeon at Premier Orthopaedics of Lawton. “It’s the same thing in a workplace, or if you’re in a meeting.” But convenience sometimes comes at a cost.
